That's unacceptable. Granted, the music front has seemed a little quiet lately. Here's a little something though:

Remember DJ Earworm?
So there I was.
Crouched and Ready.
Humble and Bready.
Rough and Tumbled.
Steamed and Heady.
But I wasn't ready for this. A DJ Earworm mash-up of Annie Lenox's career:
Here is some more DJ Earworm should that I'm particularly particular to. The later ones are a little more club-y than the beginningers.
(read: Radiohead makes Kanye's shitty song sound good. Crazy, I know. Esp. cuz it's autotone which, thanks to Sean, I now know is overdone. And can only be done ironically.)
(oldy but a goodie)
(read: Beastie Boys and Daft Punk is a match made in heaven. But electronically, almost a little too much going on. But Earworm always toes the line, so that's to be expected.)
(rolling stones and Moguai/Tocadisco - very get-into-able)
I'll leave it at that for now - check out his other shit at http://djearworm.com/ if you're so inclined. I don't wanna overload this blog with my particularly particular taste anymore than I already have.
BEACH
It has been four days since the last post. That is unacceptable ladies and gents. I depend on this blog for new music.
New female rapper - BEACH.
Can't find any of her shit to embed, so you'll have to navigate away from this page:
I like "Welcome" personally. Great loop. And you can hear she's got attitude. I don't know what she's talking about, but she seems pretty invested in what she's saying. (Lyrics, Shmyrics, joo kno.)

I'm split on this song
On the one hand, it's repetitive, kinda simplistic, and honestly sounds like it could have been made in Garageband. On the other hand, it's been stuck in my head since I first heard it and I kinda like it. If I ever make a movie involving a fast-paced heist, it's going to be set to this song.

come on baby play me something
Woo! Metric hypem love. Good for you, guys and gal.
New CD, old news right? The Twelves remix of Help I'm Alive is pretty damn tight, probably what got people so psyched about the new(ish) album! This is why people should appreciate remix artists. URTEXT RESPECT MUTHABITCHES. Take that, you crotchety old aestheticians!
And for the sake of sentimentality, the song that sparked the love affair:

Bikini Kill - In accordance to natural law
An excellent Saturday morning song to go with my morning heart attack. Somewhere between a bowl of cheerios and Saturday morning cartoon reruns.

This song is driving me insane. I must've listened to it over 30 times today. WHY?!?!?!

Yo yo yo, bitches and hos and sexy hobbit people, I am way too lazy to post up a player and unlike some people, ahem, I am at work. I will however recommend some music that you may or may not have already heard. [Read Full Post]

new embedded player system
Added a far simpler system for embedding audio. Now all you have to do is post a direct link, and the player is integrated automatically into the site. For example:

expandable post tutorial
If you're going to post up something fairly lengthy, you now have the option of collapsing it into an expandable post to save space. [Read Full Post]
I added the code to the template, so it'll always show up when you open up the New Post window. It'll look like this in the Edit Html tab:
<a aiotitle="click to expand" href="javascript:togglecomments('POST TITLE HERE')">[Read Full Post]</a> <div class="commenthidden" id="POST TITLE HERE"></div>
You can go into the Edit Html tab and just delete it if you're posting something short. It won't affect your post at all. If you do want to use it, there are just a few things to know:
1.) Enter all of the stuff you want to be shown (i.e. not initially hidden) before the code.
2.) Enter all of the stuff you want to be hidden right before the </div> at the end.
3.) Copy/Paste the title of your post in the two areas where it says POST TITLE HERE in the code.
Thus, for this particular post, the code looks like this:

Also, for easy access, I added links to the tutorials posted so far on the sidebar to the right.
Cheers.
I see what you did there...
Deerhunter is good when you're in a sort of chilled out but still wanna hear some interesting music sort of mood. never too rambunctious, but not really boring either. i really like the album Microcastle, which is where this song is from.
Every song by Fleet Foxes is good, but it takes more than one listen to appreciate what is going on there. I listened to nothing but their self-titled album and their Sun Giant EP for weeks at the beginning of senior year.
The Hold Steady are sort of good to listen to when you feel like getting fucked up and causing some mayhem, but not because you're depressed--just because it would be fun. I used to listen to them on the Blue Bus after my last class on Thursdays. Hard to choose one song, but this one is sort of a bitching rock anthem. I like them, too, but don't play them that much.
And yeah, I, too, have tons of music I haven't listened to. I gave No Age a listen, but couldn't really get into it... too much noise. I'll probably post up some artists later for the same favor.

aural overload
So, this one'll actually be a discussion post. The topic: managing your unmanageable music collection.
Here's the thing: I have a fuckload of music. Like, an honest-to-god metric fuckload. The problem is, I've probably only really seriously listened to about 50% of it, if not less. A lot of this surplus is from friends, and a lot of it results from my ultra-OCD need to download every single album I hear about or stumble across. I seriously doubt I'm going to stop downloading new music, which means the ratio of familiar to unfamiliar music in my library is going to become increasingly disproportionate as time goes on.
What I'm going to do is begin posting up the names of random artists I find in my music library in the hopes that someone out there recognizes them and can give me feedback on their bumpability and recommendations for specific songs as avenues of approach. So, here are some artists off of the top of my head that I've heard great things about, and maybe even listened to a few times, but never spent the time getting to know:
Deerhunter
Fleet Foxes
Crystal Stilts
Flying Lotus
High Places
The Hold Steady
The Horrors
Ponytail
No Age
Titus Andronicus
What do people feel about this? Anyone in the same spot?

Here are the instructions for my party game:
Step one: Go to hypem.com
Step two: Type 'Drop the lime' in the searchbar then hit 'enter'.
Step three: Scroll till you hit the song 'Ready or Not (Drop The Lime Slime You Refix) - The Fugees.'
Step four: Listen!
You can also repeat this search substituting the searchword with 'Vanessa Carlton', and in step three, scroll until you hit the song 'Play/1,000 Miles (Swine Forkbeard Mashup)'David Banner vs. Vanessa Carlton.'
That one's for the all those true romantics out there. I particularly enjoy the use of the phrase, 'put some dick in your world.' Put it on a greeting card and mail it to your sister.
Laters!
eddit: by the way I fucking hope you've all been listening to some Alan Wilkis this past year.
